A non-stop action thriller in the vein of Jack Reacher and the television series, 24, from bestselling author, Iain Rob Wright. First book in the Major Crime Unit series is now free.
Nowhere is safe from evil…
When a quaint town in the United Kingdom is stuck by a suicide bomber, a once proud nation is brought to its knees. Yet this first attack is just the beginning of something much greater and far worse. Something that nobody could have predicted.
The days to follow will determine if the UK has a future, or if it will be reduced to anarchy and ashes.
Only one person stands between the people of the UK and their complete destruction. Too bad it’s an angry, damaged ex-solider named Sarah Stone. Sarah despises her country for what it did to her, and that’s what makes it so hard when she is forced to save it.
SOFT TARGET is the first in a series of books featuring strong heroine Captain Sarah Stone and the Major Crimes Unit. It is a non-stop action thriller in the same style of Jack Reacher, Tom Clancy, and 24.
"Iain Rob Wright blows me away." J A Konrath, author of the Jack Daniels books.

Fantastic Book, Horrible Editing

Before getting into the (really) good parts of the book, I must comment that the editing was just atrocious. This is easily the worst editing I’ve ever seen in a book with hundreds of errors ranging from omitted words, incorrect words, typos, space between letters (especially contractions), two words stuck together and more. I found it incredibly frustrating to read for this reason, which is a shame since the book is so good. In fact it is easily a 5 star book for content, but a 1 star book for editing. Ordinarily I would have averaged the two and given the book a 3 star rating, but that would be a disservice to readers who might look at a 3 star review and skip this fantastic book. It’s worth reading despite the numerous errors.
A terrific suspenseful tale about the British war on terror. Mind-bending characters and events propel this fast paced story.
This suspenseful story from Horror master Ian Rob Wright is well written and fast-paced. The story of agents protecting Great Britain from terrorists is timely and thought provoking. The material is horrorfying with respect to the nature of the threats and extent of the evil plots. While shocking and unpredictable, the attempt to destroy the British way of life in the age of terrorism is painfully real.
A New Genre Proves Wright Can Write More Than Just Horror/Post Apocalyptic World Novels and Do it Well!

A fast paced secret agency military organisation fighting terrorism in the UK action novel. Different to the Ian Rob Wright horror, post apocalyptic world norm, which may not be what some fans want, but I always like seeing a dominant writer of one genre prove they can write in others. Soft Target like other books in the government secret agent genre isn’t the most realistic novel in the world, but I think when you read that genre you know that going in. Sarah Stone is initially not that likeable a character, but once you’ve turned enough pages and got to know her, including a few flashback scenes to how she became the disfigured angry woman she is today, she grows on you. Plenty of far fetched action scenes including car chases, jumping out of helicopters, gun battles, a secret underground base (with the cool name of The Worm), villains and terrorists keep you turning the pages until the end.
Overcoming hate to focus on the bigger picture

When small towns in the UK become terrorist targets, the country is on the verge of being brought to its knees. The only thing standing between the government and total collapse is former soldier Sarah Stone. The problem is that, Stone has been so badly treated after her military service, she hates the government.
Terrifying but insightful
Terrifying not only because this can become reality but is reality and happing now. Insightful in how and what our countries are doing to combat the terrorists. This is one book that is going to stay with me for a long time! I can’t wait to read the next in the series.
Very interesting book! Sara sure had a hard line to follow, but she did. The book kept me on the tip of my seat. I really enjoyed your book, wonderful, thrilling and unique. It was great I would recommend this book to everyone!

This is a great action novel!! I loved the characters, the dialogue, the action…fantastic. I can’t wait to read more in this series. Hopefully there will be more after the second book. As other reviewers have noted however is the poor editing, primarily misplaced spacing. I’ve contacted the author about this so hopefully it can be re-released corrected. Having said that, the book itself is just too good not to give it its due of 5 stars.
Read the entire book in 2 nights – riveting! You won’t be able to put if down if you like military or spy-type mysteries. I’m definitely a fan of Iain Rob Wright now. What an ending!
Not my usual cup of tea, but WOW
I’m not usually one for war stories or anything close to reality, but I sure did enjoy this ride! I was invested and adored Sarah Stone and her acerbic ways instantly. I cannot wait to see what she does in her next adventure!
